Hi there. I have been dabbling with drawing, painting, and creating off and on since I was a child. As an adult, I pursued avenues in architecture and academia–the latter as an educator and independent researcher with a focus on urban social, political, and economic relations. Intervening years replaced the joyful creative process with pressure and unfounded artistic expectations. In midlife I want to rekindle some of the early desires I had for becoming a self-taught artist. Now, I am learning to let go, cut the self-judgment, lose the expectations and simply get some medium on a surface and see what it teaches me. Perhaps it becomes something nice to behold…maybe not. I just know I feel better when I’ve tried to create something versus and letting the canvases collect dust.
What you see on this site are really “studies” as I figure out skills and artistic expression. My hope is seeing my dabblings in one place will encourage me to keep going.
